On initiative of the government of Aruba, and in particular Prime Minister Eman, the Kingdom Symposium has started this morning at the Edward Cheung Center for Innovation. The vision of Prime Minister Eman to make the Kingdom a strategic partner dates back from ten years ago. Consistent with this is that on the 14th of December 2011 in the Netherlands the first Kingdom Conference took place following 10/10/10 with participation from the Netherlands, and the islands of Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maartin. The proposal of Prime Minister Eman during this conference to organize a Kingdom Symposium in Aruba was a logical step. The focus of this symposium is do give more content in our relationship with the Kingdom, and to put this into practice. At the Kingdom Conference in the Hague last year, Eman spoke about how the countries on the Kingdom need to work more towards cooperacion that has to result in recognizing the aggregate value of the Kingdom. In this Aruba has taken the first steps by signing the Arikok accord with Curacao and St Maartin in December 2010. In this accord is mentioned a desire to come together for a common vision and to work together on many areas. With this same goal, and once again with the initiative of Aruba, they have signed an accord in cooperation with the Netherlands. One of the fundamental conclusions, expressed at different occasions by Prime Minister Eman, is that not just the government of Aruba, but also all the of the governments in the Kingdom should recognize the aggregate value that the relationship with Kingdom, and to accentuate this. A good cooperation between the countries of the Kingdom, a large passion of Eman, was placed in the conclusions of the conference. Today in the building of the Edward Cheung Center for Innovation, the first symposium of the Kingdom took place. A well-balanced program was put together with participation of some excellent speakers. All spoke about the Kingdom, its value, and where we like to reach in our relationship with the Kingdom. Afterwards, there was a panel discussion with the speakers. Prime Minister Eman opened and closed the symposium.
